The federal government has announced that the application process for Hajj 2023 will commence from March 16th, Thursday. The acceptance of applications will continue till March 31st, Friday. The draw for the applications will take place in the first week of April.
According to the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Mufti Abdul Shakoor, interested applicants are advised to keep their required documents ready beforehand to avoid any inconvenience. The approval of the Hajj Policy 2023 by the federal cabinet has paved the way for this announcement.
The Minister also mentioned that the cost of Hajj under the government scheme has increased by Rs. 3 lac due to the global recession that has affected both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. In order to assist those who may face financial difficulties, a sponsorship scheme has also been approved. If the full quota of this scheme is utilized, it will provide $194 million out of the $284 million required for the successful execution of this year’s Hajj scheme. The Finance Ministry has assured to cover the remaining cost.
